The song uses the text by Richard Le Galliene (in public domain) and depicts the passing of
summer. This piece have some folk-music influences in its rhythmic and voice-leading organization
and makes use of sung and spoken syllables to mimic the sound of crickets and to support the
ongoing rhythmic pulsation.
