Recognition at the IFCM 5th Choral Competition
Vera Ivanova's "High Up!" for SSA choir and piano, commissioned by the Howard Hanson Institute for American Music in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Eastman School of Music, received a special recognition at the Fifth Choral Composition Competition held by International Federation for Choral Music.

Eastman Centennial Commission Premiered!
Eastman Treble Choir, directed by Philip Silvey, premiered my new work "High Up!" at Kilbourn Hall (Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY). This work was commissioned by the Howard Hanson Institute for American Music in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Eastman School of Music.

I was lucky to be selected for a residency at the

Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra (both works are listed here in "Works" tab). I also edited my piece for bass violin and koto "Surface Tension" and created a new version for viola and bass koto.

This year I am attending 2015 MTAC Convention in San Jose with my student who won the MTAC State Composers Today Competition. I was selected by my home branch (MTAC OC) to receive a free registration as a first-year attendee!

Just gave a presentation at the Composition in Asia Festival and Symposium at University of South Florida, titled
Discovering Non-Western and Western Instrumental Combinations in my Composition for Violin and Bass Koto “Surface Tension”. It was great to present to such an interesting crowd of colleagues, students, and to see so many familiar from my Eastman days faces!
