Program Notes:“Pacific Overture” for wind ensemble is a celebration of a unique region – the Pacific Ocean coastline
and its diverse community. Being a resident of Southern California, I have been inspired for many of my
compositions by the beauty of its nature, combining in one area the mountains, the ocean and the desert,
and the diverse community, bring different cultures together.
This piece was commissioned and first performed by the Symphonic Winds of the Pacific and conductor
Stephen Rochford, to whom it is dedicated.
